Even though minerals make up only a small portion of our body, they are essential for our physical and mental well-being. Both the macrominerals and trace minerals play a major role in proper muscle and heart function, nerve activity, and energy production, among many other critical physiologic processes. It is essential to learn how to identify a potential deficiency as serious health problems can occur. This course will list and describe the functions of the essential minerals in the body as well as expound on the foods that create a healthy balance of minerals for optimal body function.
